처음 기존 호텔이 있던 부지에 회원제로 운영하는 프리미엄 호텔과 함께 다수의 타운하우스 그리고 청평 호반에 수상레저를 즐길 수 있도록 공유수면에 요트클럽을 계획하는 프로젝트의 의뢰를 받고 현장을 방문했을 때 기대 이상의 풍광에 적지아니하게 흥분되었다. 가평8경중 제1경인 청평호의 풍광과 건너편으로 보이는 호명산. 뽀루봉이 병풍처럼 앞뒤로 펼쳐져 있고 시시각각 다양한 모습으로 찾아오는 4계절의 다른 모습에 대한 즐거운 고민이 나를 흥분시키기에 즐거운 고민을 시작하게 되었다.
The requested project was to construct premium membership hotel, townhouse as well as yacht club near the shore of Cheong-Pyeong Lake. The first visit to the site, The scenery of three the most important elements, Cheong-Pyeong Lake, Ho-Myung Mountain, Ppyo-Ru Peak and the dynamic appearance of four vivid seasons was truly attractive, its landscape was more beautiful than I expected. It surely was an exciting project.
주변의 우수한 풍광을 어떻게 건물에 끌어들이면서 건물자체의 매스가 주변과 어떻게 어울리지를 중심으로 생각하면서 계획을 진행하였다. 먼저 전면에 보이는 풍광을 호텔의 파사드를 2차원의 곡률을 가진 형태로 계획하여 단조로워 보일 수 있는 청평호를 다양한 시각으로 볼 수 있도록 계획하였으며, 호텔 전면의 수영장을 호텔 내부로 관입시켜 수상 호텔과 같은 느낌을 가지도록 계획하였다.
요트클럽과 대지 사이의 공간을 수상공원으로 계획 다양한 생태계 식물을 조성하고 요트클럽의 옥상 부분은 막구조를 통해 다양한 공간연출이 가능하도록 외관을 구성하였다.
The first step in designing a building form was to balance with nature. The important task was embracing nature to take maximum advantage of views.
The hotel’s curved facade suggests avoiding flat and tactless exterior look and it also offers different angle views of Cheong-Pyeong Lake. The indoor swimming pool with beautiful lake views creates a feel of floating hotel. The land between yacht club and hotel is natural ecosystem area where mixture of plants grows, And the fabric structure rooftop of yacht club produces diverse spaces.
그러나 모든 개발 프로젝트가 그러하듯이 초기에 제안했던 좋은 대안들이 여러 가지 개발 여건에 의해 수정을 거듭하여 최초의 의도와는 사뭇 다르게 진행되어 개인적을 ㅗ아쉬움이 많이 남는 프로젝트이다.
During the development process, the initial ideas and intended plan had to be revised in order to meet the circumstances. Although the final piece of work was utterly different from what I proposed in the beginning so I personally have a lot of regrets for this project, it still is one of the most exciting projects I have ever involved with.
